Description
A stool made of hand-bent steel bar, with the seat formed of a series of irregular hairpin-bends. The steel is a standard size that is available to order on ebay, it is heated using a regular blowtorch and bent against a concrete floor without the need for any measurements or cuts. The result is a unique piece that is inextricably linked to the maker and place it was made. The stool is designed in a democratic way – it is easy to see what went into it, and easy to roughly replicate without a workshop.
Each piece is unique, so will not match the image exactly.
For the purpose of public-use, I have tack-welded it in a couple of points to ensure that it is suitable for heavy use and transport. I then powder coated it in a cranberry red, and cured it in a regular domestic oven thanks to its oven-ready size: 40cm x 40cm x 35cm.
